About

Christine Elise Chen’s music has been praised as “imaginative” and “full of nuance,” where “the lyricism is always earned.” Previously a professional soprano for seven years, Chen comes by her lyricism honestly, and brings a sophisticated and poignant cantabile sensibility to all her works. Her music has been performed internationally in America and Europe, by ensembles such as Duo Ikt, the West 4th Duo, the Marble Choir, Saint Peter’s Bach Collegium, the PoP-NJ Singers, the UPBEAT Ensemble, the Liszt Academy Ambassadors Quintet, and at home in Australia, by the Leichhardt Espresso Chorus and Moorambilla Voices. Recent commissions include two works for chamber orchestra, children’s choir, and four solo vocalists as one of four composers-in-residence for the APRA/AMCOS Luminary Award-winning regional arts not-for-profit, Moorambilla Voices, scheduled to be performed in September. Originally from America, Chen is currently based in Sydney, Australia.
